The Lady of the Harvest

The Lady of the Harvest

The Lady of the Harvest

Completion, grief, loss, harvest, release.

After we have experienced the nurturing and fulfillment of the Bright Mother, the Lady of the Harvest, also called Old Woman or Crone, helps us to let go of what is finished and liberate ourselves to move onto the next phase of our activities and relationships. As in the natural world, the old becomes compost for new growth in our lives. The Lady helps us to adapt to change and release.

Often we associate the Lady of the Harvest with loss, regret and grief – and often we are right to do so. The basic phases of grief are shock/denial, anger/guilt, emotional storm, acceptance, regaining of perspective, the beginning of healing, and the deepening of our capacity for love. The Lady of the Harvest understands grief and is patient and kind as we go through the sometimes painful process of letting go. We may well need to be patient and kind with ourselves.

On the other side of this letting go business, there are many things that make us lighter and happier when we release them – old traumas, tasks or stages in our lives that we are glad to have finished. Such releases are cause for celebration and the Old Woman joyfully celebrates with us.

Faery's Oracle - Penelope Dreamweaver

Faery's Oracle
Inspiration, Magical Dreams, Visions.

Weaver of Dreams, bringer of visions, muse of artistic inspiration, Penelope weaves tapestries in the mind with threads of light, color and sound. When she comes to us in dreams, we waken under her enchantment and rush for our paints or clay or other forms of expression.

Penelope is an inspiration Faery, and is more than willing to help us. Inspiration Faeries like their jobs, but they they get really bored when people don't pay attention to them. Sometimes they get exasperated enough to send us nightmares in an attempt to get us to wake up!

The Faeries of Inspiration sprinkle us with special Faery dust so that we come up with ideas. "Rather like fertilizing a plant, and you know what plants are fertilized with"

The realm of Fairy

The Realm of Fairy is a strange shadow land, lying just beyond the fields we know.

The Oak Men

The Oak Men

Strength, Ancient wisdom, Depth

I had an interesting lesson from the Oak Men about how we humans use faeries to MIRROR our own projections. The eyes of the Oak Men are warm light Brown, but some people look at them and say, "Ooooh, red eyes! Scary!" Using digital magic I made a copy of the Oak Men and gave them Blue eyes. I asked some people for an impressions of the Men, and words like "innocent" and "Sweet" and "Melancholy" came back. When I changed them to Violet I got responses like "Ooooh, so Spiritual! So wise."

Had the Oak Men changed? Of course not, but what people project onto them had! When we look at a Faery, we can simply project all of our fears and insecurities and prejudices and delusions on them - or we can try to see them as they are. In a sense, all oracles are simply MIRRORS  of the wisdom and the confusion within the reader, but if we only look at them through our personal filters and projection, we learn very little. It is only when we see beyond ourselves that we begin to use the oracle as a MIRROR of the cosmos and all of it's wisdom.

The Dark Lady

The Dark Lady

Unconscious power and wisdom. Rituals, Mysteries, Secrets

The Dark Lady is the High Priestess of the Mysteries. She has the profound, intuitive knowledge that is only to be found by looking deeply into our own beings and natures. We find her through meditation, in sleep and within inner peace, ecstasy and total despair.

She is the guardian of beings unborn, of unconscious ideas, and of seeds sprouting in the dark, cold earth, tender and fragile and as yet unready to face the bright SUN and the winds of Spring. She holds embryonic hopes we have not yet realized we have.

The Dark Lady is the mistress of spiritual ritual. The purpose of a ritual is not the power it allegedly has over Gods, or Spirits or Faeries, but as the very real power it may have over us, putting us into the state of consciousness where we may better connect to our own Magic and to other world beings.

When we have been through a living cycle, it is the Dark Lady who passes with us. It is she who holds and guides us as we re conceive ourselves and prepare to be born anew. From her come those spiritual awakenings that seem to blossom within us out of nowhere.

The AIR

The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious. And why shouldn't it be? - it is the same the angels breathe. ~Mark Twain

A Fairy Song

Mushroom

A Fairy Song

Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire!
I do wander everywhere,
Swifter than the moon's sphere;
And I serve the Fairy Queen,
To dew her orbs upon the green;
The cowslips tall her pensioners be;
In their gold coats spots you see;
Those be rubies, fairy favours;
In those freckles live their savours;
I must go seek some dewdrops here,
And hang a pearl in every cowslip's ear.

The Maiden

The Maiden
Auspicious beginnings, Birth, Growth, Joy, Hope

From her crown of light to her star-jeweled toes, the Maiden is pure JOY. She is the face of the force that generates growth throughout all the worlds.

When she smiles, troubles melt. Where she DANCES, flowers spring from the ground and burst into bloom. It is from the Maiden that the Pixies learned the dance that keeps the other-world turning... and probably our world too. She is newly born every morn, and she carols her plangent song of growth for all beings in all the worlds. She sees the Magic and Light in everything and takes endless delight in everything and takes endless delight in it.

Even though the Maiden is so wonderful and powerful, she is a child and she needs to be cared for, nurtured and cherished.

Every time we allow ourselves to be filled with JOY, we become more like the Maiden.

The Maiden is also the inner child who needs to be under the supervision of a competent inner adult in order for her to feel secure and loved.

The Green Woman

The Green Woman
Wildness, Natural Magic, Expectant Gratitude, Untrammeled creativity.

The Green Woman dances naked in the MOONlight... and in the SUNlight and the shadows as well. She does not care what you think of her, she knows her own worth from her experience of life. She is the feminine vital vegetative life force that enables a root to crack stone, the reed to bend in the wind, and the Oak to stand against the storm.

The graceful, slow motion dance of the Green Woman shows us how to release the constraints of artificial rules and limitations and find our true pattern of growth.

The Green Woman reminds us that where the ground is fertile something will grow.

She counsels us to take risks, to let new and unfamiliar wild seeds grow and see what they become. Watch them closely... some of them may be miracles waiting to happen in our lives.

The Friends

The Friends
Friendship, Support, Aid

The one on top is Faery Nuff, Laochan, his high speed friend beneath. They are the BEST of friends.

As children, we all have faery playmates and faery guardians. As we grow older the peer pressure often nag us into blocking our visions of an communications with the faeries. Nuff and Laochan can help us go back to that childlike trust in faeries and to renew our forgotten friendships with them. They can also often help us to learn more about the true meanings of friendship.

"Hands outstretched reach across the rushing water.... you steady me, I steady you on the slippery rocks of time. Hands reaching, giving... and giving in return. I AM so grateful to you for being there. I could never have managed alone"

Faery Guide

"Each person's sojourn in Faery is highly individual and unique. Each traveler moves through a very different symbolic and emotional landscape. Thus the meaning of a painting reveals itself only individually, changing from viewer to viewer" ~Brian~www.worldoffroud.com

Taitin the Sylph

Taitin the Sylph
Acute intellect, Quickness, Mental synthesis, Discernment

Taitin glitters and glimmers brightly. She scatters special Faery dust that energizes the mind. However, energy is not everything, and the faery dust that actually makes minds brighter as well as more energized is more rare, and she distributes it much less often.

Taitin reminds us that ideas cannot be confined. They are wild and free. They move fast.

Brian wrote "The Sylph is a fragment if the earth's soul in faery form. In Faery realms, light comes not from above but from within."

She is the awaken-er, one who startles us into seeing and thinking in new and exciting ways.

The Bright Mother

The Bright Mother
Creativity, Nurturing, Productivity, Intimacy, Sheltering

She is the Bright Mother of us all and knows that life - all life - is a miracle. This Great Lady is both Earth-Mother and the full, bright Moon, pregnant with the future of all growing things.

The Bright Mother is the guardian of family life, and she creates and holds a nurturing environment for us all. She is the garden where vegetables, fruits and herbs grow.

Her commitment to us is for life - her eternal life, not our ephemeral in-the-flesh lives.

Each time we perform a compassionate act of nurturing, we become more like the Bright Mother, learning unconditional giving.

O! That Gnome

O! That Gnome
Trickster, Creative chaos, wild gifts, breaking habits and patterns

This is the trickster that exists in every world. He helps us break down old habits by showing us how silly they are.

Brian mentions, That Gnome,  is unreliable and sometimes encourages drunkenness. As for drunkenness "in vino veritas" ( in wine there is truth).

Can you laugh at yourself sometimes? And let the laughter carry you into new insights and new ways of being? Then That Gnome  within you is waving his faery wand gleefully.

He of the Fiery Sword

He of the Fiery Sword

The Active Principle, Spiritual Will, Justice, Protection

When the song comes into any of the manifest worlds, this world or Faery or another, it first encounters two principles, sometimes called yin and yang, or masculine and feminine, or Great God or Goddess. He of the Fiery Sword is the primary manifestation of the yang principle, action, will, movement, force fire.

The presence of this card in a reading radiates strength and will power.
